Day 27 portage to Winnipeg

Last night we said good bye to a bunch or riders and support crew.
They even had me rapping with Ian and Ruben.
We left this morning with the threat of rain.

It was spitting a bit on and off.

Passed this fire truck.

Lots of different types of barns. The storm started to chase us,however there was a great tail wind.

Billy and Harold ripping down the road.

The roads are still long and straight. The landscape has changed to flat. It reminds me of home. The holland marsh only it's as far as you can see.

Another old barn.
The clouds were rolling over us.

Luckily we were riding between 30-40 kmph.

At one point we were riding 32kmph and bringing down our daily average.

We passed a field of sheep. We tried every sheep noise we could think of  to get their attention.

Apparently barking like a dog got there attention.
Bunch of riders stopped to take a pic of this church.

We pass along a river all day long.

The fields are beautiful in their own way.
The seatosea trucks passed us.
A field full of sunflowers. They were all facing away from us. The storms seemed to be all around us. But at least the wind was behind us.
A happy bunch of cyclists. Amazing a difference a day makes and a tailwind.
We crossed over the Assiniboine river a bunch of times.
Thanks to the road marking team we know whether  to turn left or right.
I found this on someone's front lawn. What a neat idea. It seemed to have lots of books in it
We finally got into the city.

Me and Louie hanging out. I think I told him to get real.
Back on the bike path. Nice to look at but not nice to ride on. Good thing we don't ride on too many.
We stopped for a pic in the big salad bowl.
There was a guide explaining the monument to us but I forget.

A bunch of us stopped for lunch with only a few km to go.

Turns out it started to rain. Then it started to pour so we went inside. They got so much rain so fast that there was flooding. Most of the riders got soaked.  I guess we timed this one right. We got back to camp dry and safe.

Tonight we're keeping watch over the camp while everyone else went on a bus to a dinner and native show.  Another week in the books. See u tomorrow
