Heading to Zuni

Let me start off by saying the rumors were true. 5 o'clock this morning our tent and bed shook, for all the wrong reasons. Apparently it's a Fourth of July tradition to go around the town  and fire off a canon around twenty times. Let me tell you I needed a new pair of shorts. I'm thinking they just wanted us out of town. Na they were great hosts. Pack up again and away we go. Today it was just Stan and I. O.m.p. ( old man power)   There always seems to be a climb out of town. Only 60 miles today. The Mesa's we saw today were amazing. The pics don't do the place justice. Today we crossed into New Mexico. Ill show you a close up of the sign. It's full if bullet holes. Just before the final descent into Zuni we stopped to take pics of the Mesa , which is a large rock that usually has a slope on one side and a cliff on the other. The two in the pics are special because they are free standing mesa's with no ramps just steep sides. We're staying in the Christian mission school in Zuni. I'm in the library on front of z typical Zuni style house interior, pretty sweet. In town your not allowed to take pics. We went for a little tour in town saw a cool Mesa and the ovens they use to bake bread. At peloton  tonight we heard from some of the Zuni people about how God is working in their lives and about the fathers and uncles who fought in the Second World War. Fitting for Fourth of July. Not a lot of flag waving here. The Zuni are proud , good people. Nice to be able to stay in this place. See you all tommorow. Len
