Canon~ city to Colorado Springs

So today is Saturday. It's hard to keep track of the days because we have the same routine everyday. Wake up pack up the tent and sleeping mats and bedding. Next get dressed and try to eat some breakfast, make a lunch and snacks. Grab my bike check it over and fill the tires with air. It's a busy time every morning but a similar time frame to get things done.
Last night I went to ace hardware to pickup parts to make a handle for the tilt skillet in the kitchen. Saw this sweet car in the parking lot. It belonged to an old couple that came in the store. Last night we stayed in a dorm room at the Abby.  It was 14 $ per person linens included. Great deal we had our own room. There was scrambled eggs this morning thanks to the tilt skillet. Away we went Stan , Harold , Terry who's been riding with us all week and me or I ? It was a low km day , about 80  but it was not supposed to be a lot of climbing today. So first thing this morning we start climbing.
You can see the town below us. The landscape was rolling dry hills. Not exactly what we thinking. After having such a scenic day yesterday.
After the rolling hills we climbed and descended  through a nice canyon. Well today as some cyclists were riding down a big hill, a lady fell and broke her leg. That was tough to hear when we got back to camp. We are on roads and highways and lots of things could go wrong. So we pray for her and also the other riders to stay safe. We need your continued prayers.
Here's the guys taking pics
This is what they were looking at. It's the house on the centre peak. Nice place
We had a series of steep down hills and climbs. Because we all climb and descend at different speeds we ended up waiting for Stan. He likes to descend a little slower but climbs like a mad man. So I descend like a madman and climb like a snail. Usually Stan passes me half way up the hill. Well today he didn't. Turns out he got a flat and wrecked his tire. Good thing there was so others from the tour who helped him out.
He managed to fix his tire good enough to get to camp. However we stopped at a bike shop and picked up some supplies. The guy at the shop was excited  to about the tour and gave us a discount. We gave him a seatosea card and on we went.
We stopped at a lemonade stand  in Colorado Springs. That was cute and fun
So on Saturdays we are encouraged to wear our seatosea jerseys.  With that and the fact there is a few CRC church's in the area I was expecting a welcome of some sort when we arrived. I was a little disappointed to say the least. Nothing. I'm not sure what I was expecting. Mmmmmm the school we are staying at allowed us to stay in their sandy playground, mmmmm . After some pleading they allowed us to sleep in their hallways. Considering we brought them rain I thought it was a fair trade ;)
Here's the view in town of the mountains around us. The tall one is pikes peak. A storm rolled in right after we got in. Looking forward to a day off.  Ill write you tommorow

  1. Enjoy reading your blog each day as I sit here in Florida amazed at what you and others are doing for yourselves and for your cause. Do enjoy your scenic and verbal observations. Keep on "keeping on". (Terry's dad).

  2. Hi Len,i look forward to reading your blogs. That car reminds me of mom's 1972 Dodge Dart. Do you remember it?. I heard a song by Queen, it's called Bicycle race, i thought of you and your team of riders lol. May God Bless you as you continue your travels, may there be less hills for you to climb :)).
