Day 63 Sunday PEI.

I'm tired. I think a lot of us are tired. It's been 9 weeks. Day in day out we ride. Some days are filled with beauty and wonder. Some are a grind. I'm not sure how many people know this but I don't really like biking. It's not something I would do just for fun. I hate training.  Riding alone on a route I've done many times before , not fun. Now I'm not saying I'm not enjoying this ride. I do love seeing new things.  I love meeting people and riding with them. The difference of riding a bike across the country as a posed to driving is huge. On a bike you feel the temperature, the moisture, the sun and the heat reflecting from the pavement. You smell the great smells like flowers, pine trees or the cooling mist of a glacier stream. You also smell the dead skunk before you see it. A smell of a dead animal on the road. I've been privileged to be able to enjoy all the good and the bad the whole way accross the country. It makes the fact that I have to pedal a bike to do it seem worth it.
Would I do this ride if it was just a bike ride. I don't think so. The fact that we, and I say that we because without your support 1.6 million wouldn't have been raised to do great work that will effect people in a positive way not just for a day but a life time.
That makes the pain in the knees , hips , shoulders, pretty much all over worth it.
Makes me think about our walk with Christ. Some days are great and we feel like everything is going our way. Other days are a grind and we're ready to throw in the towel. Is all the pain worth following someone like Jesus. Like the miracles Jesus performed here on earth that lasted far beyond his death so our relationship with the savour will last far beyond our deaths.
So do we continue on till the end and persevere. You bet we do. Do we do that perfectly. Not a chance. We are all a mess in some respect. We all fail. We all fall short. Isn't it awsome to know that nothing we can do or not do can change how much God loves us. Just keep trying. Keep giving grace. Keep getting up and living for him. God has plans for you that are better than you can ask for or imagine. Len.

Day 62 Murray beach to PEI

It rained all night from just after sunset to just before sunrise.
We went down to the beach to check out the weather over pei.

Had breakfast.

We had prayer at precisely 655 am. Like usual. I think they set the atomic clock by it. The non seatosea campers must love us in the morning. I think they all cheer when they find out we won't be around the next morning  we are not the quietest most respectful bunch in the morning

We had to bike 15 km to the base of the bridge but we stopped off at a ward to take some pics.
These boats were at the warf.

Ian's bike was levitating.

We gather together to get shuttled over the bridge.

Loaded up the bikes into a uhaul.

Over the bridge onto PEI.

We didn't bike to Charlottetown straight away like most of the bikers did. We took the long way around.

Lots of red soil and potatos

We found a few more cyclists on the way to cavendish.

The scenery was pretty sweet.

The rain blew past us a few times.

We use Ian as our garmen. We let him go first to give us turn by turn directions.

We had to ride on a gravel section.

It's red.

We made a few stops to enjoy the water and inspect the mussel and oyster farms.

A bunch of us met a Mountie  in cavendish.

We also met Optimus prime

Sat by the sea for a while and enjoyed the veiw.

It's like we had no place to go.

We're all matchy matchy today.

Got real close to a couple of foxes.
Stopped to see Anne of green gables.

Had a danish.

Got into character.

Took another group to the ocean

Then they followed us back to the other end of the island.

Past some great spots.

More oyster farms.

Back to charrolettown and the crc church. Not this one but it was on the way. We ended up going 125 km today. A great ride.  A fun ride. Loving it. Len.

Day 61 St. Louis de Kent to Murray beach

Today was a day so full that it's hard to remember it all. Glad I take pics to remind me.
The day started with eggs and sausage on a bun.

Coffee and lunches

After prayer the early birds headed out.

These girls are ready to go but like good riding buddies there're  waiting for the rest of the group who are doing chores.

Here's a group we passed.

As you can tell by the picture above it's fun to be passed but not fun being passed.

A nice climb in the morning is a good time to warm up.

We stop a lot to take pics.

We had to detour onto a major road for a little while because of a bridge.

Kinda looks like biking through cottage country.

A cool lighthouse along the way.

Another gaggle of riders going through a construction zone. Love the fresh pave.
We went over a one way bridge with just common courtesy to control the traffic flow.
 Stopped at the local lobster.
We went past some interesting tourist stops.
We biked past a motorcycle fair/gathering.
We still went past quite a bit of farm country right along the water.
This was a cool tribute.

We were  welcomed to the rest stop.

The we got photo bombed.

We went past a lot of smoke houses and fish processing plants that were right on the water.

Some old boats too.
We stopped just before camp and had fish and chips.
Had a great sunset just before the rain started.
Off to bed. Tomorrow we are going onto PEI.
