Day 9 salmon arm to revelstoke.

So last night we got to the school, set up and later headed to the church

 for supper. It was a 20 min walk. 

We lined up for an awesome buffet put on by the crc. 

It was a great meal. 

Great company. Great food. 

This morning got up and at breakfast. Packed a lunch and did a sweep of the gym and rooms to look for stuff left behind.  Found a watch and credit card. Then I found a grateful owner. 

We headed out towards revelstoke. Lots of down hills and up hills. 
We went past a log mill that was right on the lake. 

Our first rest stop was provided by a local church. Very encouraging awesome people. After the stop we went on a side road to get a break from the traffic of Hwy 1.

Great barns. 

As we continued on we got our first glimpse of the Rockies snow covered mountains. 

We may have broke out in some songs. Sound of music stuff and also some disney ones. The senery just got better and better. 

Stop at the sight of the last spike in the railroad across country. 

Back on the road we went. More climbing. 

We stopped at crazy creek. 

Gods beauty is all around us. I'm not sure if you live here, would these veiws get old. 

As the day went on it got hotter. A special treat for the riders was passing a creek that came down from the mountains and joined the main river. The treat was not just the beauty but also the cooling affect that it had on the area. It felt like I was riding into a large cooler. 

Smokey the bear watched as we defended into revelstoke. 

After the ridge we finally stopped at a McDonald's.

We went swimming in the lake. 

People are workin on their bikes in anticipation of the biggest climbing day of the whole ride. A bit of nervousness. Pray for safety for tomorrow.

Day 7&8. Rest day x2.

Sunday morning.  

Pancakes and bacon made by terry and Megan. Banana in the batter. It was yummy.

Fixed the bike today, emptied the motor home and just relaxed today.   

Today we started the day with a nice long climb 

It's a 64 km day so if we take it easy it will be a nice easy day before a tough week. 

Another great day of riding with the mountains surrounding us. I'm trying to savour the veiws before we head to the prairies.

First rest stop was busy.

This was our second stop. The home town of the wikkerink sisters.  We had gelato. Then we bought komijne kaas  and droopies.  I also had a piece of home made lemon cheese cake. This was the best stop yet. Thanks to the susters for setting this up. 

People seemed to linger for a while.

We did some sight seeing in town. 

We hung out on the pier for a while. Then we went to have a coffee at the pink cherry. 

After that it was camp. Relaxing again. Is this the life or what. See you Len. 

Day 6 Canada day.

Happy Canada Day everyone. 

Alright. I guess my title may have been a little misleading. And the pick of the long horn sheep is from 2015 at radium hot springs. I feel better now.

Today I just about said hi and happy Canada day to everyone we passed by. This lady was interested in what we were doing and in true Canadian fashion said she was sorry fir not having any money for the cause. Well I told her no problem she could give online and I gave her a card. Just before this we went to a bistro for the best carrot muffin and strawberry cream puff. Apparently this shop just opened in 2005 when the first ride came through. Voted best coffee shop three years running.  Good choice to stop. 

I finally passed my first McDonald's on day 6. Worst part is I actually passed it by. 

Stopped at carries stop  to get water. Still full from the bistro.  

We had a real nice down hill stretch and with Paul and Rubin we were ripping. Came to the middle of this bridge and stopped for some pics. 

Next stop was a church for lunch.

Who are all these people. We got here so quick that we got to see a bunch of people that we haven't seen in a while.

Back on the road we passed the slofstras three. 

Screaming along the the shore we stopped at Christine's rest stop and put our feet in the water to cool off. As the day went on it got hotter and hotter.  

We passed a bunch of old tractors. 

On some of the last highway stretch we had a great view but Ian got a flat. He had a wire in his tire so we put a new tube in and headed for the school on the otherside of Vernon. Who would have ever thought there are so many nice places along this valley.  

Crazy how nice this is. Deffinatly blessed to be riding in this place. So today's stats are. 6 hrs and 40 min  journey time. 110 km max speed 74.61.  3143 feet ascent. 2972.4 decent.   So the summary is   An up and down day , smokes hot.   Looking forward to an off day tomorrow.   Still getting used to this new blogger app.  Sweaty  Len
